Baked Fish Recipe
Baked fish recipe or steamed fish recipe is very easy to make and I promise that you will just love the flavors.
Use any fish fillets of your liking for this Chinese fish recipe. You can either bake it in an oven or steam it in a steamer. The result will be the same, i.e amazing.
Cooking this fish is very easy and what I call hassle free. Just assemble everything and bung it in the oven.
The amalgamated flavors from all the ingredients, give this recipe an awesome taste.
This recipe will serve 4-6
The ingredients required are as follows
- 750 - 1000 gm of any fish fillets (cut the fillets in 4-6 pieces)
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 2-3 Tbsp Lime/Lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 1 Green chili (sliced diagonally)
- 1 fresh Red chili (slice diagonally...very hot so use to taste)
- 3 stalks of Lemon grass (6 inches from the root, not the leaves)
- 1 cup of fresh Coriander leaves (chopped)
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped Garlic cloves
- 2-3 Tbsp Ginger juliennes (ginger cut into thin match stick slices)
- 200 ml Coconut milk
- 2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- Banana leaves or kitchen foil
Rub the fish fillets on both sides with lime juice and salt. Marinate for 10-15 minutes, while you do the chopping.
Chop the ingredients as mentioned. Pound the lemon grass first and then chop it as well.
Spread a clean banana sheet or foil and spread the olive oil on it. Now sprinkle a little of all the chopped ingredients on it (mainly in the center, as we will fold the sides to make a parcel). Place the fish fillets on it and again sprinkle the rest of the ingredients on top. Also pour the sesame oil and coconut milk.
Fold the banana leave loosely from all four sides to make a parcel and tie it with a cocktail stick. If using a foil, follow the same instructions and loosely fold the foil, so as to ensure that steam can build up inside.Make 4-6 individual parcels if you prefer.
Place the parcels on a baking tray. Place in a preheated oven at 220°C and bake for 15 minutes. Let it rest for 5 minutes and open the parcels and serve in the banana leaves itself. Don't waste any juices that have leaked out on the baking tray. Pour them on the fish.
Enjoy!!!
